On December 27, 2022, the law mandating local telcos to register its users' SIM cards both prepaid and postpaid, has become official. This means that all of us SIM card users in the Philippines whether you are on postpaid or prepaid plans, foreigner or Filipino, are now required to register your SIM.

Now, registration has been on-going and so far there have been more than 20 millions users who have registered their SIMs. If you have not registered yours, keep in mind that the deadline of registration is only until April 26, 2023. It might get extended for another 120 days after the deadline, but let's not wait for that to happen, register as soon as you can, it's super easy anyway. Smart and TNT users will get free 3GB of data after they register.
Your question might be, "What happens if you don't register your SIM card?"
According to the SIM Registration Law, any SIM cards that will not be registered within the stated period, will be deactivated automatically, which means the users won't be able to do and enjoy the following:
1. Making and receiving calls
2. Sending and receiving text messages
3.
Accessing the internet
4. Remaining prepaid load will be forfeited
Can you still reactivate your SIM after this happened? The answer is yes, but no later than five days, according to the law. After that, and still you fail to register, your SIM will be dead for good and you will have to buy a new one and register. New SIM cards are by default deactivated and will only be activated after successful registration.
