On December 27, 2022 all SIM card users in the Philippines, whether it's a prepaid or postpaid ones, will be required to start registering their SIM card to their respective telcos to avoid being deactivated after several months. Good thing, telco brands like Smart Communications Inc worked with the government in crafting the process to make it a lot easier for us consumers to register our SIM cards.
If you are a Smart (prepaid or postpaid), TNT, Smart Bro, TNT or Enterprise user, you will need to register your SIM card to Smart beginning December 27, 2022 in accordance with the Republic Act No 11934.
What information needed for the registration?
- Full Name
- Birthday
- Sex
- Present or permanent address
- Government-Issued Valid ID and ID Number
- Selfie photo
For business entity or organization, the following will be needed
- Business Name
- Business Address
- Full Name and Authorized Signatory
Postpaid and Enterprise customers will be contacted by Smart and the information and documents they provided during the application will be enough. They will just need to get confirmation from you about the details and process.
What about for SIM card users who are minor?
Smart said, that for minors, the SIM card will be registered under their parents' or guardian's name.
Foreign nationals and tourists will also be required to register the SIM card they will be using while staying in the Philippines. To register, they will need to provide the following.
- Full Name
- Nationality
- Birthday
- Passport
- Address in the Philippines
- Type of travel or admission document presented
- ID number or number of document presented
