A brand new leak appeared online claiming to be the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus smartphones. Read more here.
At this very moment, it has already been confirmed by the company itself, that Samsung will officially unveil their next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S9, on February 25. Just a day before the Mobile World Congress 2018 begins in Barcelona, Spain. And while we are just less than a month away from this big event, tons of rumors and leaks are also expected to come along as we wait, just like the in the previous years of Samsung's flagship releases. This year is no exception to that as well.
The image you see above has just been leaked by the famous Evan Blass aka @evleaks on Twitterverse. The said press render shows what the leakster claim as the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9 and the Galacy S9 Plus devices, as also published on VentureBeat website by Evan himself.
The post cites that the two devices will have 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch InfinityDisplays with 18:9 aspect ratio, respectively. That's in addition to the same Super AMOLED display technology that Samsung has been offering with the Galaxy S series for years now.
Furthermore, these upcoming Samsung flagship smartphones, according to the Evan, will be both powered by the new Snapdragon 845 in the US and in China, and also the new Exynos 9810 chip in the rest of the world. However, in the memory and storage department, these two will reportedly vary. For example, the smaller sibling will only have 4GB RAM and 64GB while the bigger one will be equipped with 6GB RAM and 128GB default storage. It is even reported somewhere that the Galaxy S9+ variant will have dual camera setup on the back panel.
Speaking of camera, Samsung promises "reimagined" shooters with the S9 and S9 Plus. One of the biggest speculations in this department is a new technology called Variable Aperture which will be included in the phone's primary cameras. What it does is it allows the module to switch aperture lenses between f/2.4 and f/1.5, which I believe no smartphone has ever offered yet.
While the image above does not show the backsides, it is rumored that Samsung will re-align the position of the camera, sensor, and fingerprint scanner. Vertically, this time around to be exact, making the scanner a lot easier to locate and not confused with the camera when reaching using fingers to unlock.
VentureBeat's Evan Blass also said that Samsung will start shipping the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ handsets as early as March 16, 2018, as also seen in the image above.
