Here I share five reasons why the latest Realme 6i is the best value for buck smartphone in the Philippines. Read more here.
If you are planning on buying a Realme smartphone and you are leaning towards
getting the
Realme 5i, just don't. The 5i with 3GB RAM and 64GB internal storage is still
priced at Php6,990, just add Php1,000 and although you are getting the same
RAM and storage size, you are getting a lot more in everything else. That
being said, it makes much more sense purchasing the 6i over the other and here
are the five reasons I can think of as to why the Realme 6i is a super sulit
smartphone today.
1. 48MP AI quad camera
The number one on my list would be its cameras. The Realme 6i has four on
the back with AI scene recognition tech and one on the front with 16MP
selfie shooter. On the rear are the 48MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture,
followed by an 8MP lens with ultrawide 119-degree field of view (FOV) angle,
then a third and fourth 2MP shooters with portrait and macro lenses.
The 48MP is implemented with Quad Bayer's pixel binning mechanism combining
four adjacent pixels into one large pixel. This results to a more enhanced
resolution and quality of the images taken even in low-light environment. As
a default, the camera produces a 12MP binned photo. You can also shoot
images in unbinned 48MP through a dedicated "48M" mode.
As a result of the uprgaded cameras on the Realme 6i, it produces great
quality detail-rich photos worthy of social medial sharing. If you are into
mobile photography or photography and videography in general but on a
limited budget, this is highly recommended.
2. Powerful MediaTek G80 processor
The Realme 6i is the first device in the world to harness the power of the
latest MediaTek Helio G80 processor. More than just a photography-centric
smartphone, this also makes the 6i a gaming-focused mobile phone on a
budget. Be it Call of Duty Mobile, PUBG Mobile, Mobile Legends, Asphalt 9 or
Black Dessert Mobile, which are pretty intense mobile games in terms of
power and graphics usage, the phone can easily handle them with ease.
If the Realme 6i can manage those games pretty well, how much more our daily
smartphone usage?
3. Realme UI
As I mentioned in my official
unboxing and initial hands-on review
of the Realme 6i, the phone is one of those few smartphones from the brand
to come pre-installed with Realme UI based on Android 10 right out of the
box. Comparing this user interface with the previous ColorOS from Realme 5
series and beyond, a lot of improvements can be noticed and experienced with
the Realme UI. It's much faster and more beautiful.
Thanks to the larger RAM and powerful Helio G80 processor, my experience so
far with the Realme 6i has been nothing but great. Apps work as they should
all the time and do not get laggy even while running multiple ones in the
background. Switching between applications has been buttery smooth and
without hiccups.
I like the system-wide Dark Mode feature on this one.
Here
I discussed some of the things we can do with this new Realme UI, except the
reverse charging feature with the Realme 6i.
4. Massive 5000mAh battery with 18W fast charge
And just like the Realme 5, 5i, and the C3, the 6i also has that massive and
long lasting 5000mAh battery. What's more is that Realme threw in an 18W
Fast Charge this time around setting it apart from its predecessors. I do
not need to tell you more about this part, if you are a smartphone user,
specifically Android devices, you most likely already know how much of a
difference that 5000mAh makes in terms of battery longevity. The 18W fast
charge is not that fast as you might comment, but it's definitely faster
compared to the ones from the mentioned older devices.
5. Of course, the price
The pricing is what makes this Realme 6i a super sulit smartphone. When
Realme Philippines said this would be a sub-Php10k smartphone, I was
thinking okay that would be Php9,990 since the review unit I got has 4GB RAM
and 128GB storage which was given to me prior to the price reveal. Little
did I know that there was also going to be a 3GB RAM and 64GB storage
variant and would be offer for just Php7,990. Okay that's it! I said, Realme
is doing it again like it did with the previous releases, offering a lot of
value in a smartphone with asking price that's easy on the pocket.
Apart from the RAM and storage sizes, both variants share the same set of
specs, features and design. So I like said at the start of this post, if you
are eyeing to get the Realme 5i or even the Realme 5, I guess it would be
much smarter getting the 6i instead as it has a lot and new things to offer
for an asking price that's right, or cheaper.
Bonus: It's now got USB Type-C
If you have been watching tech bloggers unboxing and reviewing midrange
smartphones of any brand, you have probably noticed that most of us always
point out that it's much better on these smartphones to have a USB Type-C port
over the traditional microUSB one of old. Well, Realme heard us and here we
are with the midrange 6i now enjoying a USB Type-C port at relatively no
additional cost.
Discount alert
On May 15, Realme and Lazada had a one-day flash sale of the 6i where both
models had Php500 off. That same flash sale will happen again for the second
and last time this coming May 20 on Lazada as well. This means you can get the
3GB+64GB for only Php7,490 and the 4GB+128GB for Php9,490.
