ASUS Brazil has launched two new ZenFone Max smartphones powered by the new Snapdragon SiP 1 processor. Read more here.
ASUS recently made a surprise announcement in Brazil where they unveiled two new ZenFone Max smartphones featuring a new processor technology, the SiP chips. These two phones are officially called the ZenFone Max Shot and ZenFone Max Plus M2 and are the first phones to be powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon SiP 1 processor. And seeing these devices' Brazilian SRPs, they are quite expensive compared to the current Max's that we have in the Philippines. Well that's mainly because of the new generation of processor that they come with, the System-in-Package.
Qualcomm Snapdragon SiP 1 is the first of its kind Sytem-in-Package new type of processor that will be produced by Qualcomm and was developed in partnership with Brazilian Universal Scientific Industrial (USI). The SiP or System-in-Package processor, compared to the other processors on the market especially the traditional System-on-Chip (SoC) ones, is much smaller in terms of its physical size. With this new technology, the company is able to further reduce the size of the SoC chips and include other components in a single package such as the audio codec, application processor, power management and more which in turn will give phone manufacturers more space inside their devices that they can take advantage for further innovations.
The Snapdragon SiP 1 which will be similar to Snapdragon 450 chipset that powers these new ZenFone Max smartphones are created based on 14nm processing technology and it has a total of eight cores clocked at 1.8GHz partnered with Adreno 506 GPU together. In the RAM and ROM department, the Max Shot will come in 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB variants while the Max Plus M2 only in 3GB/32GB.
Both the the ZenFone Max Shot and ZenFone Max Plus M2 share almost the same set of specs, the only variation there is, apart from the RAM and storage sizes, is the rear camera setup. The Shot offers three cameras on the back while the Plus M2 only has two. The rest is basically the same.
