After being officially announced a few days back, the new Huawei Y6 2018 version is finally coming to the Philippine market later this month. This device is poised to be the most affordable 18:9 screen and Android 8.0 Oreo-equipped smartphone to be offered in the local market bearing a sub-Php6K asking price.
Until the Huawei Y6 2018's official announcement, we have been getting 18:9 aspect ratio devices in the midrange to flagship categories with price stickers starting a little lower than the Php10K mark.Obviously, that is about to change. And seeing this particular device that is about to get released in the market is kind of exciting to see how it's going to unfold. I know a lot of budget-conscious users who would really love to try this new trendy and taller 18:9 display.
The Huawei Y6 2018, right off the bat, offers a 5.7-inch screen with HD+ IPS display resolution. That is equivalent to 1440 x 720 resolution across the front panel. And like many other 18:9 devices, this one also has extremely thin bezels especially on the right and left sides.
The Huawei Y6 2018 is running on the latest Android 8.0 Oreo with the Chinese company's very own EMUI 8 on top.
Inside that handset is a 1.4GHz octa-core Snapdragon 425 processor paired with 2GB of RAM. As for its storage, users will get a default 16GB space which is also expandable with up to 256GB size through its own dedicated microSD card slot. That's in addition to the dual-SIM slot that supports up to 4G LTE connectivity.
On the photography side of things, the Y6 2018 features a 13MP rear shooter with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash while the front one has 5MP snapper.
The phone appears to not having a fingerprint scanner anywhere, however, there is a Facial Unlock feature that users can set up with this device on top of the usual passcode and pattern security features.
