Seven Things You Should Immediately Do with Your New ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom

You just got your new ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom smartphone? Here are seven things you should immediately do with it. Read more here.

So you were so excited to get your hands on the latest smartphone offering from ASUS ever since it was officially unveiled during Consumer Electronics Show in the US in January, placed your order immediately for the device when pre-order process began in the Philippines, and finally got your dream ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom as early as April 7, 2017. Or perhaps you were just able to purchase your dual-rear camera ZenFone unit just today. Now what? In case you haven't overcome your excitement yet with your newly bought Zenfone 3 Zoom and still don't know what exactly to do next, let me share you the first seven things which I believe you should do with this handset.

Take a Moment to Appreciate Your ZenFone 3 Zoom

Obviously this is the first thing you might want to do. Actually I think this is something that we should do first and foremost. But a lot of us just don't. I mean this is an awesome of a device that many people would really love to have and ASUS itself obviously have invested a lot of time and effort just make this piece of technology a reality. Besides, a gadget is in the most stunning look when it is newly unboxed, would you agree?

Set up at Least Two Fingerprints

Fingerprint Scanner is one of the best features this phone has that works really fast and provides added security to your Zenfone 3 Zoom. In this functionality, you can add multiple fingerprints and registration is one of the things being asked during the activation process of the phone for the first time. This is a feature of this phone that we should take advantage, especially if you do not want anybody having access to your phone and its content without your authorization.

With the ZenFone 3 Zoom's Fingerprint Scanner that is situated on the back panel, I suggest you register at least two fingerprints. And those are your two index fingers. So you will be able to unlock your phone using either of your hands. I realized this when I only registered my right index, and I could not unlock the device using my left hand's finger, though I could use other option like the PIN or Pattern I also created but being a right handed person it is not that comfortable especially if you are using this mobile phone with 5.5-inch display.

In case you also want your boyfriend/girlfriend or spouse to have unrestricted access to your ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom, you can register their fingerprints too.

Throw in a MicroSD Card

There are some flagship smartphones from very popular brands that do not have microSD card support for storage expansion. Thankfully, ASUS still understands the users' need for this particular feature and keeps it on the ZenFone 3 Zoom, in case the default 64GB built-in storage is not enough for you. Theoretically, this handset can handle up to 2TB size of a microSD card, but I think that size is not available yet in the market. So I would suggest try to install the biggest memory card you can possibly purchase right now.

Why? I have a couple of answers for you. First is, this ZenFone 3 Zoom has great cameras both rear and front, especially the two camera lenses located at the back with 12MP each. The optical zoom functionality produces photos way better that I actually expected. So you know if you love taking photos for your social media accounts for example, you will definitely gonna love this one and you are most likely to take more photos using this phone. You can check out some of the images I took in my unboxing and initial impressions post here for this device. Second answer would be this phone's capability to record 4K videos. Not just photos are great with this Zenfone 3 Zoom, but also videos. And 4K videos take up a lot of space, though you can also capture clips in 1080p and 720p formats. That being said, most likely you are to take lots and lots of photos and videos using this device. And then of course the audio quality of this smartphone and its free high-definition premium ZenEar earphones is another reason why you should add a microSD card. With the quality of audio ZenFone 3 Zoom boasts, you will for sure want to listen to all of your favorite songs through this device as well as watch your all-time favorite movies and series, so the many of them you have the bigger space you will need.

Auto Back up Your Images and Videos in the Cloud

In addition to the use of microSD card on this smartphone, it is also much wiser to have all of your photos and videos backed up somewhere away from the device itself. One of the best options would be storing them up simultaneously in the cloud. There are a lot of big companies that offer free and paid cloud storage subscriptions such as DropBox, OneDrive, GoogleDrive, Amazon and many others. And did you know that upon purchase of this ZenFone 3 Zoom, you are entitled for a free 100GB of Google Drive storage for two years? Yes you are, you can claim it during the device activation process.

Myself as a tech blogger which a lot of times I have to use different gadgets and smartphones for review, I really need and also want to have all of my photos and clips saved in the cloud so I can easily access them from any of the devices I use, anytime and anywhere. Which one I use? I haven't tried other cloud services yet but the one I use and really recommend is the Google Photos. Install that app to your device, login using your Google account and have all of your stuff auto saved in the Google Drive cloud. How much this one costs? It's for FREE and UNLIMITED so long that your images and videos are saved in high quality format instead of the original size and resolution.

Remove or Disable Unnecessary Pre-installed Apps

Unfortunately, the ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom still has a ton of pre-installed apps that come with it, but we don't really use majority of them. Fortunately though, there is something we can do about these unnecessary apps. Some of them can be completely uninstalled, some can be disabled and of course can be hidden. I assume you already know what to do from here.

Connect to A WiFi and Start Data Download

Of course the next thing you should do after getting rid of those apps is to download and update the apps that you need and want to use. Most of the time, all the pre-installed apps in the smartphone would need to be updated first in order to function perfectly. Plus you would also need to install the applications you have been using, and that can only mean one thing -you will need a lot of data. For that, a WiFi connection is the best route to take. Unless you are willing to use your mobile data in the process.

Explore Your Device and Enjoy

Last but not least is to explore, discover more and enjoy your new ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom smartphone. You will be surprised to realize how much features and functionalities it has that were not covered by reviews by your favorite tech blogs or sites. So whenever you have time, you navigate your device and learn everything you can learn about it. It is much more exciting to discover them on you own rather than learning them through the user manual, which we actually never read.
