A lot of stuff have been released regarding the upcoming seasons of HBO's Game of Thrones series. First and major updates were the premiere date for the Season 7 which will happen on July 16th, then it was shortly followed by the first teaser clip for the new season. And then today at the on-going SXSW event in Austin, GoT showrunners have just confirmed about the number of episodes they are working on for the eighth season next year.
Both David Benioff and Dan Weiss officially confirmed that next year's Game of Thrones Season 8, the final season, will only consist of only episodes. In case you have not known yet, this year's Season 7 of Game of Thrones will actually only have 7 episodes. The first six seasons of the Song of Ice and Fire TV adaptation all have 10 episodes each. And then most of the time, we fans feel that 10 episodes per season of this series is kind of not enough already, how much more hearing his news about the last two seasons. Yes to be honest, it is the kind of news that we really want to hear last, you know. On the other hand though we can take this as some sort of a good news as it was previously reported that the original plan was to only have a total of 70 hours running time for the whole franchise, but they ended up having 73 hours.
Furthermore, both Dan and David have confirmed that they are now in the process of working on the final moments of the saga and how the series will come to an end.
Also, one of the big reveals at their event at SXSW Austin is that Ed Sheeran will definitely have a cameo in the Season 7. Of course, they did not mention which episode or what his character will be, so it's up to us to spot this singer songwriter while watching the series. Showrunner said that they have been trying for some time now to have Ed Sheeran a scene on the show as a gift for Maisie Williams who is a big fan.
