Cherry Mobile or Cherry Philippines has just made a surprise announcement a moment ago through their Facebook page. The local electronics giant just announced a new affordable product offering and it is not a smartphone this time, but rather a smart watch. Cherry Mobile officially launches the Cherry Watch that offers "more than time."
I am calling it a smartwatch although Cherry Mobile has yet to announce the exact OS that runs this device, simply because it provides services on top of answering our daily question of "What time is it?". Cherry Mobile said this Cherry Watch can be paired with a smartphone (most likely an Android device), provides notifications, text and call functionalities, monitor your sleeping pattern, play music and many others.
Interestingly, the Cherry Watch N5 is also capable of taking in a single microSIM card and a mircoSD card up to 32GB. So you can have your music and other files with you right on your wrist. Also it looks like there is a processor in this device but Cherry Mobile has not disclosed that one yet, but for the RAM there is 128MB together with a very small 64MB internal storage which again can be expanded via microSD card. There is also a 0.3MP camera, Pedometer, FM radio, Bluetooth and even an Anti-Theft feature. All for only Php1,999.
