The year 2015 is about to end but Cherry Mobile does not seem to be capping the year with their recently-released new Flare smartphones. That is because this local electronics giant just outed yet another Flare device which offers something I haven't seen in this series of devices, a Digital TV feature. This is the Cherry Mobile Flare S Play.
With Cherry Mobile Flare S Play's digital TV feature, you won't be missing your favorite local TV shows anymore even if you are not home yet or always on the go. And since it is marketed with a digital TV tuner, I am assuming this device will have the same channel access as the phones from Starmobile like the Up Vision and many others where ABS-CBN and GMA networks are available, which are in digital format. Digital format is the upgraded and latest platform of broadcasting in the country and it is NTC-regulated to provide consumers better listening and viewing experience over analog signals.
Apart from the digital tv feature, the Cherry Mobile Flare S Play also sports specs that are very competitive especially for its less-than-5k-price sticker. There are the 5-inch HD display, an octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz running alongside a 2GB RAM. Internal storage comes with a quite big 16GB space, and it can also be expanded via microSD card up to additional 32GB. And yes it's powered by an Android 5.1 Lollipop OS.
For cameras, you won't be disappointed to hear that the Flare S Play offers 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front facing shooter for your mandatory selfie pictures.
For online connectivity option, there is the WiFi and cellular network over up to LTE. And it's a dual-SIM equipped smartphone too, which means you can easily switch networks if one of them is currently down or has slower internet connection.
