Telecommunications giant Globe Telecom and Tourism Promotions Board of the Philippines (TBP) have teamed up to boost tourism in the Philippines via Visit the Philippines 2015 campaign. This partnership aims to further promote the country as the world's top travel destination in Asia and to further boost the Department of Tourism's recent report of about 2.2 million tourists from different parts of the world who have visited the Philippines between January and May of this year, that's around 8.15% growth compared to the previous year.
Starting today, July 30 all the way until the end of the year, Globe will have booths at all NAIA international terminals as we as at Cebu, Davao, Kalibo, Ilo-ilo and Clark International Airports and will give free SIM packs to OFWs and Foreign travelers. The SIM pack is dubbed "Globe Traveler SIM" allowing users to receive free calls and texts from abroad and offering them local rates for international calls they will make for as low as $.40/minute. These travelers will also be able to access the internet via Globe TravelSurf prepaid data plan for seven days at $11 and if they need more time and will be staying longer in the country, they can subscribe to a 30-day package under the same plan for just $23.
One of the main concerns of travelers both local and international tourists is connectivity. While they are away they still need and want to stay in touch with their friends and loved one who are not with them or away from home. This is the best way for them to stay connected via calls and texts or through online on their social media accounts, blogs, online banking and other internet-based services, while they enjoy their vacation anywhere in the country.
To get a free SIM from Globe, tourists just need to present their non-Philippine passports and for OFWs they simply need to present their foreign resident card, Seaman’s book or OFW E-card. The SIM cards are already tri-cut so whatever SIM card size their smartphone holds will not be a problem.“We are happy to be the first telco partner of the Tourism Promotions Board in their thrust to make the Philippines the ultimate destination hub for tourists worldwide.
