This year's Earth Hour observation falls on a Saturday which is going to be on March 28. Switching off of lights will be from 8:30 to 9:30 PM and Malacañang encourages all Filipinos in the country to once again join this annual global event this coming weekend.
”We encourage our people to participate in Earth Hour 2015 by voluntarily switching off all lights for one hour from 8:30 to 9:30 o’clock in the evening on Saturday, March 28,” Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said in an interview with state-run DZRB Radyo ng Bayan on Sunday.
“In so doing, Filipinos will be showing their solidarity with the rest of the world in efforts to combat climate change, thereby promoting a cleaner, healthier and greener world,” he added.
Earth Hour is a worldwide yearly event spearheaded by World Wide Fund for Nature that encourages people around the world to take action for the planet Earth against the climate change. This year’s global tagline is “Use Your Power to Change Climate Change.”
Earth Hour project has been around since 2008 and from 2009 until last year the Philippines holds the title of “Earth Hour Hero Country” for outnumbering participants across the globe, thanks to the actions initiated by big establishments in the country and all the households in the entire nation that joined. This year we also aim to keep that title, but of course it's not all about the title it's all about genuine participation and about our saving the planet for future generations to come.
