SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 4 Unveiled Now With More Powerful Specs and Features

After so many rumors, leaks and unofficial revelations from various sources being published online by bloggers, sites and other online users, Samsung has finally and officially announced the Galaxy Note 4 at its IFA event in Berlin just last night.  Many of the leaks were proven to be correct and there are some that just missed a thing or two. Yet with those so many speculations and leaked photos, the fourth generation of Galaxy Note phablet still managed to surprise us in many ways. Specs, features, functions and even the physical design have all new things to offer when it hits the wild. But of course not everything about the new phablet was released online before the official announcement.

Display and Processor

The most prominent feature the new Galaxy Note 4 has is its display, even though it still features the same size as the Galaxy Note 3 it packs the sharpiest display a Note can offer. The 5.7-inch front panel now boasts a Quad-HD display, meaning a 2560x1440 resolution and 515 pixels per inch or ppi are put together so perfectly and adorably in that too-small-for-a-tablet and too-big-for-a-smartphone device, and it's protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3. As for its processor, the Note 4 will come in two configurations depending on markets and carriers around the globe, a 2.7GHz Quad-core or a 1.9GHz Octa-core (four 1.9Ghz and four 1.3GHz chips) processor. the quad-core is by Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 while the Octa-core is Samsung Exynos 5433 Soc. 

Memory and OS

This phablet was rumored to sport a 4GB of RAM but when unveiled it's just 3GB RAM, still the same configuration on its latest predecessor. There is a 32GB of internal storage right out of the box and just other Android phablets, it supports microSD card up to 64GB. I just wonder why not up to 128GB as there are already other devices out there that can support a memory card up to that size. Android 4.4.4 Kitkat will be running the device, but most likely upgradable to Android L when the new Google mobile OS is officially out. 

Cameras

The cameras on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 are upgraded too, the rear now sports a 16MP sensor with the addition of Optical Image Stabilization technology, meaning the camera will produce clearer and more steady and vivid images even when taking photos and videos in shakey situations. This rear buddy here can capture videos with up to Ultra HD (3480x2160) format at 30fps. The front camera is now at 3.7MP with wide-angle f1.9 aperture, so selfie pics through this gadget will cover a wider background and also Samsung said that this front facing camera has also enhanced and now about 60% brighter than the Note 3's front sensor.

Battery

The battery is a bit bigger than than the previous Note which is now pegged at 3,220mAh versus last year's 3200mAh, however Samsung made a lot of improvements in the Note 4 to this battery. One of those is the Ultra Power Saving mode which debuted on Galaxy S5 is now on this phablet which will allow users to turn off other battery consuming features and keep the most essential ones when the battery life comes down to 10% and it should allow them to keep the phablet up and running for the next up to 24 hours. And then there is this new Rapid Charge enhancement in the battery which can charge the battery up from zero percent to 50% full in just 30 minutes. The Note 3 usually takes about 55 minutes to achieve a half full charged. 

Design

The physical and outside look of the Note 4 is very similar to the Note 3 but still with differences. First is the new Note is slightly heavier than the previous and that is because the frame is now made of metal (like the Galaxy Alpha) which makes the device more premium in feel and look than the rest of the Notes. This and last year's Note, we are looking at a 176g vs 168g in weights just for comparison. The back panel features a soft textured removable panel and no more fake stitching design. According to bloggers who had first hands-on experience with the device, this one is more comfortable to hold than the previous with that change on the back cover.

There are also other features from Galaxy S5 that were brought to the Galaxy Note 4 such as the Fingerprint Scanner, Download Booster, the one I mentioned above which the Ultra Power Saving Mode, Heart Rate Monitor is also available here and many other sensor-based apps. 

S Pen

Of course the S Pen, the very signature of Galaxy Note lines, has received a lot of improvements. Samsung said that users will be provided with more natural and realistic pen experience that ever before. Air Command feature is now much more user-friendly together with other features such as Screen Write, Image Clip, Smart Select and Action Memo.  

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will be available starting in October at all Samsung markets which includes the Philippines. Are you excited for this new phablet?
