Nokia X, the first Nokia Android smartphone has just been launched in the Philippines for Php5,990.
Nokia's first Android based smartphone called the Nokia X has officially been launched in the country on March 11 at an event held at Holiday Inn in Makati City where members of the media and bloggers witnessing the event. This device will cost Filipino consumers Php5,990.
Nokia X, previously codenamed Normandy was originally announced by the Finnish company at the MWC 2014 last month in Barcelona. As expected during the handset's rumor and leak times, it is an entry level smartphone from Nokia which features 4-inch touchscreen display with 512MB of RAM, a 1GH Dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor and an internal storage of 4GB which is also expandable via mociroSD card.
Though it's running Android mobile operating system, the interface on the Nokia X does not look like one. The display looks very much similar to Lumia devices running Windows Phone 8 OS but yes it is an Android phone. It supports more than 50% of Android apps found in the Google Play. However, Nokia said that it will not have access to the Google Play, instead they will have a Nokia Apps Store where the company will curate all the compatible apps for the device. But days after the device was unveiled, there were users who already claimed that they have hacked the device to have access to the Google Play store and download Apps from there.
