Cherry Mobile has released the CM Amethyst, a budget friendly dual-core smartphone for only Php2,299.
Cherry Mobile has just released a new dual-core super budget centric Android smartphone and it is called the Cherry Mobile Amethyst. The announcement was made through CM's SM North Edsa Facebook page. It's a pocket friendly smartphone as it is only priced Php2,299 and with that price tag, users get a 1GHz Dual-core processor, Android Jelly bean 4.2 and 3.5-inch capacitive display. There are also 2MP of rear camera with 0.3MP front facing one, 2GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 32GB via micoSD, Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi connectivity. It is also a dual SIM handset.
In the official image (above) that was posted on the Facebook page of Cherry Mobile, there are two important details missing in the scene and those are the RAM and battery size. To me, aside from the software and processor, RAM and battery are also important things to look at first before buying it and see if it's going to fit my style of use. But according to some commenters and bloggers the RAM is only 256MB and the battery is 1,200mAh. These specs are also shown in another image (below) posted on the FB page. That 256MB of RAM is to me not that acceptable as the user experience will not be that smooth. It's price of Php2,299 can already tell us what to expect but I believe 512MB is much more acceptable. I would rather choose Starmobile Play over this Amethyst where I just need to add Php700 more and that would give me almost twice of specs such as 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage and 5MP rear camera with LED flash. But if you are type of user who does not use apps and internet that much, just wants to have an Android smartphone and more of calling and texting purposes only and most of all in a tight budget then this Cherry Mobile is the best option for you.
