Ben Affleck is the New Batman in the Man of Steel Sequel

Warner Bros. itself has announced that they have decided to have Ben Affleck on board to play the Batman in the 2015 Man of Steel sequel. The company made the announcement yesterday through a press release and was also posted on the Warner Bros. Philippines Facebook page. So it is going to be Henry Cavill (Superman) vs. Ben Affleck (Batman) film to look forward to in less than two years. Read on for the official press release of the company.

Back at the 2013 Comic Con in the US, it was where the Man of Steel director Zack Snyder made the surprising and overwhelming announcement  that the next installment of the Man of Steel will be in 2015 and will have a theme of Batman vs Superman. Yes, that's right! Batman fighting Superman and to be honest, up until now I am still wondering how Batman who is merely a human will fight an alien like Superman and that makes me super excited to see the finished film and how Zack Snyder will execute the fight scenes. I think Batman will be needing a help of a krytonite, I don't know. I am aware of the Dark Knight Returns graphic novel by Frank Miller where the epic battle happened but I have not read it yet and don't have a plan reading it maybe until seeing the movie adaptation.

While so many movie goers are not happy about the new cast for the next Dark Knight who also played as Matt Murdock or the Daredevil 10 years ago, I have no problem with that as long as Zack Snyder will still be the man behind the Superman-Batman face off.  We'll see Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent for the very first time in one motion picture on July 17, 2015.

Below is the opening statement from the official press release by Warner Bros.

"Ending weeks of speculation, Ben Affleck has been set to star as Batman, a.k.a. Bruce Wayne.  Affleck and filmmaker Zack Snyder will create an entirely new incarnation of the character in Snyder’s as-yet-untitled project—bringing Batman and Superman together for the first time on the big screen and continuing the director’s vision of their universe, which he established in “Man of Steel.”  The announcement was made today by Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production, and Sue Kroll, President, Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures."
