Rovio has announced that this coming 19th of September will release the new installment for its most successful mobile game, the Angry Birds: Star Wars 2. Strange it was not called Episode 2 as what I was expecting when I thought if the Finnish company would create a sequel, just like the movie where it was based from.
However it not confirmed yet as to what platforms this new Angry Birds game will be available for, the only thing Rovio says is it will be launching "across app stores worldwide". But for sure if you own an iOS or Android device, you are going to be one of the first ones to get the experience and more likely followed by Windows Phone 8 devices.
There will also be new characters to be included in this new entry and as per rumors, Jar Jar Binks -inspired player will be in too. Rovio says there will be over 30 characters to play with in the game and first in the series this version of Angry Birds will have the players an option to choose sides. So if you feel like joining the Pork Side, then you will be able to do so in this one.
Aside from those revelations for the new ABSW2 from Rovio, the Finland-based company also unveiled a new twist in the game. As per the post on their website, "To compliment this wide line-up of characters, there will also be a line up of over 30 collectible TELEPODS figures from Hasbro." the post said. "Placing these figures onto your phone or tablet camera will scan your character of choice directly into the game, allowing you to select new characters on the fly." the post added.
