Nokia Officially Announced the Lumia 1020, Features a 41MP Camera
After so many unconfirmed rumors and leaked images, finally the Finnish company has announced the existing of its new flagship Windows Phone 8 smartphone to be released this year, the Nokia Lumia 1020 that boasts a staggering 41-mega pixel camera.
The first time I heard about this 1020, or Nokia EOS as the rumors before used to refer to, I thought it would be a little bit bulkier since it was going to house a 41MP camera but I was wrong as Nokia manages to put in the camera configuration in the Lumia 1020 and made it even slimmer and lighter than its predecessor which is the Lumia 920.
The 4.5-inch touchscreen of the 1020 packs a PureMotion HD+ ClearBack AMOLED display with pixel arrangement of 1280x768, 332 ppi (Pixel Per Inch) and protected by a Gorilla Glass 3. Under the hood runs a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro, a dual-core processor chip. Then there is the 2GB of RAM. For the storage, the WP8 smartphone comes with 32GB internal storage and if I remember it right, this one is not expandable so if you plan to own this one it means you are stuck with a 32GB of space plus the unibody polycarbonate casing covers everything including the non-removable 2,000mAh battery.
Well to be honest, I like more the Lumia's form factor and design language than the Apple-made ones, especially the Lumia 920 and this new monster from Nokia and Microsoft. I would like to have the yellow ones when I have the opportunity to bring home the device.
Since camera is one of its major selling features, Nokia also partnered it with camera softwares or apps for most people. There is the what Nokia called is the "Pro Cam" and another which is named "Nokia Smart Camera app". The Pro Camera is the default camera app when you launch it and it works almost entirely the same as other camera apps we know and love. The Smart Camera app, has extra capabilities. For example, you can take a series of photos of an object in a rapid succession then you can select the best one you like.
