Nintendo Releases Wii U in the US

It was in 2006 the last time Nintendo released the Wii and so far according to its Wikipedia page, almost 100 units have been shipped as of September 2012. On November 18, 2012 (in the US) Nintendo launched their next generation game device, the Nintendo Wii U.

This is the very first Nintendo game console to support high definition graphics capable of producing a video output of up to 1080p and sport a miniature touchscreen called the GamePad. If you have been keeping and playing previous Wii games and would still like to continue playing them, no need to worry as the Wii U offers backwards compatibility. Through Nintendo Network, users will be able to download Nintendo 64, Game Cube, NES and NSES games.

Nintendo Wii U comes in two variants, the Basic White with 8GB internal storage and the Deluxe Black with  32GB flash storage in it. The retail price starts at $299.

Below is the new touchscreen Gamepad that includes with the console itself.

As you can notice this version of GamePad boasts an embedded 6.2-inch touchscreen display and it also features accelerometer, gyroscope, camera, dual-analog sticks, built-in sensor and a microphone. One of the  best things about this gamepad is that you can still continue to play a game even if the TV is not available with its build-in screen so for me that is a big yes for buying this new Nintendo Wii U.
